Actor Nicolas Cage hasn't had a good year...
Earlier this year, Cage reportedly had to sell off two of his properties, his Bavarian castle in Germany and that awesome home in Bath, England, after the tax man came collecting for 6 million, allegedly because his former financial adviser had horrible skills with...money.
Cage also had to unload his mansion in Bel-Air for what has been reported as no where near the asking price of $35 million.
Last month, Cage's father, August Coppola, 75, who taught literature and served as dean of creative arts at San Francisco State University, died of a heart attack.
Now, two more of Cage's homes, both of which are located in New Orleans - including the allegedly haunted LaLaurie Mansion on Royal Street in the French quarter - went up for auction today.
The 13,000 square-foot French colonial home on Prytania Street, listed for sale this spring for $3.4 million, has been sold for $2.2 million, while the LaLaurie Mansion fetched $2.3 million. It was listed at $3.55 million. The city will extract roughly $151,729 in unpaid taxes from the proceeds of the sale, said Lea Young, a spokeswoman for the New Orleans Civil Sheriff, via the Wall Street Journal.
Sources say Cage has filed a lawsuit against his former financial adviser.
Here's hoping 2010 is a better year for Cage and his family.
