Brittany Murphy's husband says he was upset by the Los Angeles coroner's report stating the actress died of pneumonia and multiple drug intoxication.
The results of the toxicology tests released Thursday also suggested iron deficiency anemia played a role in the Clueless and Sin City star's death on December 20.
Simon Monjack, Murphy's husband, told People.com everything about the report surprised him, as well as Brittany's mother, Sharon:
"I expected (the cause of death) to be her heart. ... (She was) not that ill. She wasn't coughing up. I've had pneumonia and coughed up handfuls of spittle. So yeah, everything surprised us, everything."
He added that he is "ridiculously upset" by the findings released by the coroner's office.
Monjack and Brittany's mother have previously denied press rumors an eating disorder, mental illness or drug abuse were responsible for the Hollywood actress' death.
They said they were convinced she died of a congenital heart murmur.
Assistant Chief Ed Winter from the coroner's office said Thursday that Murphy might still be alive had she seen a doctor after falling ill.
When asked about Winter's remark, Monjack replied:
"I don't know what he said so I don't want to comment on what I haven't seen."
