This weekend, I saw Inglourious Basterds. I tried to go last weekend, but it was all sold out.
This weekend I just happened to get lucky and get to the cinema early enough to get a seat. By the time the opening credits started to roll, the theater was a sold out, packed house for the second weekend in a row.
I loved the film, but then again I'm a huge Quentin Tarantino fan, so I knew what to expect, however, some of those around me had either never seen a Tarantino film before, or were somehow suckered into believing this was simply another WWII film which just happened to star Brad Pitt and not Matt Damon.
For those who haven't yet seen Inglourious Basterds, be aware - this is not Saving Private Ryan.
Here's how the weekend stacked up:
The Final Destination was No. 1 at the box office, with than $28.33 million in ticket sales.
Inglourious Basterds fell from No. 1 to No. 2 with more than $20.04 million.
Halloween 2 was third with more than $17.40 million.
District 9 fourth with $10.7 million.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra fifth with $8 million.
Julie & Julia sixth with $7.4 million.
The Time Traveler's Wife was seventh with more than $6.74 million.
Shorts eighth with $4.87 million.
Taking Woodstock ninth with more than $3.74 million.
Rounding out the top 10 was G-Force with more than $2.84 million.
