Actress Toni Collette snatched Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical Series for role in United States of Tara, and John Lithgowwon the Best Supporting Actor Award in a TV Series, Miniseries or Television Movie for his role as a serial killer on Showtime's Dexter, while Dexter lead actor Michael C. Hall followed on his heels and claimed Best Actor in a Drama Series.
Julianna Margulies won the title of Best Actress in a Drama Series for her performance in The Good Wife.
Alec Baldwin won the award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, Drew Barrymore took home the award for Best Actress in a TV Movie or Miniseries for her work in Grey Gardens, and Chloe Sevigny won big in her category, Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series, Miniseries or Television Movie for Big Love.
Grey Gardens won the Golden Globe for Best Television Movie or Miniseries.
Actor Jeff Bridges managed to steal the thunder from George Clooney by taking home Golden Globe Best Actor accolades for his work in Crazy Heart, while Sandra Bullocksnagged the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side.
Best Film went to James Cameron's Avatar.
Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy was awarded to veteran actress Meryl Streep for Julie & Julia, Streep had managed to garner two nominations in this category; she was also nominated for It’s Complicated.
Robert Downey, Jr. also went home a winner for his work in Sherlock Holmes, besting fellow actors Matt Damon and Daniel Day Lewis for the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical.
